The Miraval Resort is a destination in Tucson, Arizona. Visit the Miraval Resorts website for an idea of the Miraval experience.
Lodging is in casita style rooms with the softest bedding I have ever seen. It feels like sleeping in a marshmallow.
Breakfast and lunch offerings include a full buffet, as much as you'd like. There is also a menu to order from during breakfast. Lunch has a special item each day. Dinner is a full menu - including appetizer, entree, and dessert. Calorie counts are available for each meal item. Unlike many other health-focused spa resorts, Miraval has a full bar, with wine and cocktails available from the late afternoon. During the day a smoothie and juice bar has healthy offerings. Plus whole fruit is available in many locations. Because of the dry climate, sustainable water bottles are given to each guest upon check-in; and water stations are located across campus.
Miraval offers many seminars and workshops, from photography to stargazing during the day and evenings.
Miraval has nutritionists and exercise physiologists on staff for consultation. Other specialists are available to work with guests in a private session for a variety of assessments.
This is a hallmark of Miraval, and a differentiation from other spa resorts. Miraval offers a series of challenge courses for the guests to try. There is everything from walking across a tight-rope to jumping off a telephone pole. All challenges are performed in a completely safe environment.
Horse-back riding, hiking, tennis, even golf. It's all there. Plus the spa, several pools. There is nothing lacking at Miraval.
A full indoor fitness center is available. Outdoor walks, and water aerobic classes let you take advantage of the beautiful scenery. The yoga studio is my favorite - and it hosts yoga classes of all types.
This desert scene is representative of the landscape in the Arizona desert around Miraval. I tried rock climbing, one of the many challenging activities anyone can enjoy while staying at Miraval.
